O'Connor) to report that the last of the series (aka Policy and Legislative Issues) went very well--good attendance, great speakers, taped for Portland Cable Access, and a lot of the local telecom power brokers were there. Science Breakfast: discussion continued on reviving this institution. Decided on one per quarter. Lots of topics but, as Duncan said, "Who is going to sponsor" (i.e., do the work)?? Rev. Dicky mentioned that with his demise from the School District scheduled for the end of June, he was entertaining starting a School to Work Program backed by the construction trade to get teachers to integrate learning with real life experience. Example: seeing how math is used in the building trades. Bernadette Price: referred to Biz&Tech by Lew Frederick. Wants to present her "Marshall Plan" on how to fix Marshall High School's dismal graduation record. Duncan suggested (moved and passed) that she should be invited to speak at our next meeting, with along with Bill Graves of the Oregonian and John Coady, technology teacher at Marshall. Web Site: session to determine how to get the website maintained. Hillary attended and was very positive about taking the maintenance task on---IF we get her the appropriate software (Microsoft Front Page) and training. Linda volunteered to "borrow" a copy of Front Page from her company. Stan to do two 1-2 hour basic training sessions with Hillary. Question of how to market the website came up including reciprocal links, broadcast messages (aka SPAM), getting proper domain name and giving credit to organizations that donate time or services. Nothing decided. Blessed and adjourned by the Right Rev O'Connor at 9 a.m. promptly. Linda Howe
